Earlier in June I photographed my first wedding in Missouri. Photographing a wedding in St. Louis was exciting; a cityscape, a new environment for me, new photo opportunities, and of course, the Arch. But this week I am reminded of the reasons so many people come to Montana for their destination wedding locations. This place is really gorgeous.
On Wednesday I photographed a wedding at the top of Blacktail Ski Resort, another new location for me. It's a long and winding road to get up there, and the weather was giving us all concerns as we drove through a rain storm to get there. But in the end, the view was unobstructed, the lighting perfect and the sunset was unbelievable.
Joe and Robin Hansen said I do, with a view over the Flathead Lake and with an arch the groom built himself. They offered guests handkerchiefs for happy tears and rose petals instead of rice to throw. But my favorite photos were the pictures of the two of them. And the red shoes. And the firefighters. Joe is a member of the Kalispell Fire Department and a lot of the guys and their families made it up to the celebration. I do love my local first responders. :)
It was a beautiful day....here are some of my favorites.
